The water colour and photograph needs protection against the harmful effects of open air and is done by glass cover used along with the picture framing. Plexiglas is one of the widely used glasses these days. This glass has plastic in its ingredients up to a certain percentage. Other glasses are also available most of which come with UV filters namely Denglas, Optium and Museum glass. These glasses are also anti reflective in nature.
Picture Framing- The Procedure
Picture framing needs the frame, glass cover (may or may not require), fillet, mat and gilding (optional). If there is picture, it needs to be completely dried before framing. Next, the picture is put against the wooden board background. After it the mat is used so that a gap is left in between the glass cover and the picture. This is done to allow the picture to "breath". After it the outer panel is mounted. Plaster is used make design on the frame.
