Styles of vintage eyeglasses
Vintage eyeglasses are exactly eyeglass with a vintage frame. There is usually a phrase used to describe those authentic vintage eyeglass frames: new/old stock. This simply means that these vintage frames have never been worn and have never had prescription lenses installed in them. In some cases, they are also called “dead stock”. Vintage eyeglasses are mostly from optometrist’s estates or forgotten storage. Most vintage glasses available in the market are selected personally, so that the quantity is usually small. Another stylish style is Horn Rim. A pair of Horn Rim frame has thick and heavy area above the brow. This takes on a rich horn effect as the wearers age. Originally made from actual horns, Horn Rim style vintage glasses are currently available mostly in a durable plastic with the hue of natural horn. Art Deco vintage eyeglasses are generally strong and heavy with ornamentation or angular with a pop-art look. Many Art Deco glasses have rhinestones.
EMO vintage eyeglasses are usually oversized and owlish. In some cases, this style looks too large on the wearer’s face. Birth Control vintage eyeglass frames are just about as nerdy as them come. They usually come in thick black or grey. Nerd vintage glass frames can also be grey or black. These frames are thick and have a strong brow. Brow Line vintage eyeglasses are made from aluminum or plastic with darker coloring above the eyes. These frames are available in a rimless style. Librarian vintage eyeglasses are generally Brow Lines for ladies. Other styles of vintage eyeglasses include G-Man, Retro, and Tortoise etc.
